Things I won't miss

Now that there are only FIVE DAYS LEFT, I decided to type out the things I will NOT miss about living in the Caribbean...
1. Making a grocery list that includes chicken (if they have it), cheese (if they have it)...about the only thing you are assured will be in the grocery is bread and sometimes they are sold out of that!!
2. Not having a McDonald's. While this can be a good thing (for my arteries), I miss the occassional indulgence.
3. Being hissed and kissed at by locals whether we are in the car or walking down the street. Yes, they hiss like a cat. GROSS!
4. The weather. Wasn't this on my list of things I WILL miss?? Yes, but as much as I love it there is something so unnatural about sweating profusely in December.
5. Ordering something at a restaurant (May I have the Lasagna please?) and getting the simple response "No!" and then a rolling of the eyes. If you would ever like an impersonation of this, I will be happy to do it...it's actually quite funny.
6. My shower...
7. Never knowing when the power will go out. Today for instance, we've lost it three times. This is actually quite rare.
8. Being so far away from friends and family. This is by far the toughest part, and I can't wait to see y'all in the very near future.!!

PS I know I have some readers who I do not know personally. If you are reading this and considering attending St. George's, please don't let this deter you. This was probably one of the greatest experiences of my life. I find most of these things hilarious and it's part of the experience of living in the third world. If you can endure two years of medical school in the Caribbean, there is nothing you cannot do!
