After a long hiatus...

To be completely honest, I was not going to continue the blog. Then today (my first official day as a Third Year Med Student) happened. We had our orientation yesterday. I was completely lost and distraught after it was over. I had no clue what was going on or what I was expected to do for the next 12 weeks in my Internal Medicine rotation! This morning I was somehow even more lost. I was at the hospital at 7:30 like I was told and I followed the Resident I have been assigned to up to the floor to review some charts. We weren't there five minutes when a nurse came over to my resident and whispered in his ear. He hopped up and told me "We have to go pronounce a patient." Yes, my very first patient as a third year was dead. ONLY ME! The rest of the day consisted of many meetings and a few other orientation things. I will write more later. I am too tired for this to make sense at the moment. To think today was my short day and I worked from 7:30-5:00!! It's not going to be easy, but I'm sure I'll have many interesting stories in the weeks and months to come!
