R and R

We had Convocation this morning, and it was probably the most boring thing ever. Even the parents who came complained! They introduced us to all the deans and of course each one had to make a “brief” speech. There was nothing brief about any of their speeches. Well an hour and a half later they had finished, and they said everyone is free to go but the School of Medicine. We had to stay another hour and listen to more speeches from different people. They all commented on how tired we looked, and they knew we went to the big party last night which was a lot of fun by the way. It was packed. They had a DJ, and he played the funniest music. It was songs that we hear in the US, but they mix it with this reggae beat. SO FUNNY! We’re trying to find a place that will have the Superbowl on tonight, but I don’t know where we are going. We think there is a tv somewhere in the hotel so we might just watch it here. A bunch of people are going to this place called Bananas, but tickets are sold out now. I don’t really care where I watch it, just as long as I see it. I really like all the people down here. A lot of them are older but really nice. They said the average age of our class was 26 so I am younger than most. My roomie is here in Grenada, but I have yet to meet her. She will be moving into our room today at some point. I was kinda sticking around to see if she showed up and I needed to get out of the sun for a little while. I am already a little burned and I don’t want it to get any worse. Later in the afternoon, it clouds up (rains over the rainforest every day) and I will probably go out then. I have to spend as much time as I can by the pool and in the ocean since today and tomorrow are my last two days of freedom. Food is kind of an issue around here. There are a bunch of restaurants around here, but almost everything is closed on Sunday, and will be shut down tomorrow because of Grenada Independence Day. So, mom, in case you are wondering, I have not been sticking to the low carb diet. I am lucky to find food! The only thing open today was KFC, and they are still in the middle of rebuilding it. It was so good! I don’t know if it was just because I hadn’t eaten or if it really was that good. The refrigerators for our room won’t be put in until the end of February either. I still have to figure out what I am going to do for breakfast because I can’t even keep milk since I don’t have a fridge. People have bought powdered milk for their cereal but I just can’t stomach that. The food I have eaten has been pretty good. Ok, it’s time for me to head back out. GO EAGLES!
