Back in Grenada

I have made it home to Grenada, sadly. St. Lucia is a wonderful island. Jenn, Sumreen, Kelly and I had the best time. On the plane ride over, Jenn asked the stewardess if they had McDonald's on the island. It was quite embarrassing, and she looked at us like we had lost our minds. Then 5 minutes later she comes back and says "They have Burger King!" I HATE Burger King, but I can't tell you how excited I was about this news! We get off the plane, go through customs, and are ready to find the BK! We needed to go drop our stuff off at the hotel first. The Burger King is right next to our hotel, and then I noticed that attached to the Burger King was a Popeyes!!! I about died! So it's still early in the morning (9:30) and this place doesn't open until 10. We waited for it to open. HAHA! They didn't have breakfast, so I ate my Popeye's chicken and biscuits. It was so wonderful. After we stuffed ourselves we wanted to do some shopping. We went to downtown Castries which is the capital of St. Lucia, and shopped at the market and some little shops. The only bad thing was that it closed at 1PM, and it wasn't open on Sunday. At least we got to look around, but we didn't buy a whole lot. We went back to the hotel and lounged around by the pool. We ate dinner at this excellent place on the water called Spinnaker's. The food in St Lucia is MUCH better than in Grenada, and the people are so much friendlier. They thrive on tourism, so they make it a point to be nice. Grenada doesn't have the tourism industry that St Lucia does, and therefore just aren't as nice. In fact they are quite bitter. It had just been so long that I didn't realize how rude they actually are here! We were so full after dinner that we decided to go home where we redisovered the wonders of television. Grey's Anatomy (new show on ABC) is my new all time favorite show. It's about a first year surgical resident so you can see where I would like it. They were showing the first two episodes on Saturday night so Sunday revolved around us not missing the newest episode. We woke up Sunday morning, had a nice breakfast at the hotel and then went to the beach. The beach isn't as pretty as it is here, but it was great to just lay out. We took an hour boat ride around the northern side of the island which was fabulous! I'd been wanting to go out on a boat for so long. Dinner last night was excellent once again. Then we went home and watched Grey's Anatomy! All in all it was a weekend of eating, but it was nice to have some decent food.
St. Lucia receives 4 1/2 stars in my book.

PS Once we get all of our pictures together, I will post some on here.

Dear Melissa, Traveled with you to St. Lucia. The last I visited there was in my junior year at LSU when I took Carribean history. Don't remember a thing except the name, kind of like some of my high school girlfriends! Today your mother did a fast food "freenzy". Breakfast from MD's, lunch from Wendy's and Popeye's and dinner tonight from Arby's(roast beef), Ground Patti(guess what?) and Baskin Robbins. I'm so tired of fast food, I wish for Grenadian food!Poached fish wrapped in a banna tree leaf, garnished with coconut fronds. But I'll have to dispell those longings with a vanilla milkshake from the "arches". Love, #1Dad!
