Yet another adventure
The most recent of Melissa's adventures in Grenada was church. It's Easter Sunday so I decide that I need to go to church. Plus it couldn't hurt to do a lil praying since midterms start in two days!! =) The little Lutheran church is right across the street from my hotel, but it took me a second to find it. I talked with the pastor before the service began, and he actually knew where Slidell was! It's funny how many people know where my hometown is located. Before church started these four little Grenadian girls came and sat by me. They were so cute, and they kept giving me their candy. The pastor laughed and said, "Looks like Melissa has some new best friends!" The service began at 9:30, and for the next hour and a half I had to fight back the laughter that was building inside of me. If my brother would have been there I would have lost it for sure because he's always the one to make me laugh in church. Back to the church story. We begin by singing a hymn, and here's where it gets good. There is no piano, no organ, just a guy and his drum set. So the 50 or so people in there are singing in any key they like and the drums are keeping the beat. AMAZING! Joanne and Shelley, remember praise music that we learned about in Lovensheimer's class?? That's what we did this morning. Then randomly one or two women would get up and sing a song (at least they could sing), and a guy would play the guitar. Why the guitar wasn't used when we all sang, I don't know. The whole time that I'm sitting there this creepy local sitting next to me keeps staring at me and trying to talk to me. I was not happy about that. This is the only time in my life when I wish I wasn't blonde. YUCK. Now for the best part. At the end of the service the pastor says Christ is risen, and we respond with He is risen indeed. Then out of nowhere the guy on the drums just beats out "Ba Dum Ch" (That's supposed to be the sound on the drums. It's the same sound that you hear after a comedian tells a good joke!) I don't care who you are that's funny! I don't know how I didn't crack up laughing. It was classic! Ok, I've wasted too much of my precious study time writing this, but it was something that had to be told! Hope you have a wonderful Easter!

Melissa, How wonderful that you attended church on Easter Sunday. Hope you got as much out of it as I did out of your diary entry. Jesus loves "boof uh usses". Love Dad
I returned from my cruise today, had a wonderful time. My Easter was a little different from yours, the priest had his clarinet and played Amazine Grace while saying mass from the bar stool some fun. Hope you have a good spring break after your exams . Love you Mimi
