HALF WAY MARK

It has been a day of Anatomy. The practical portion of my final was in the lab this morning at 9:15, then the written was at 1 this afternoon. When I left the hotel this morning, I didn’t bring one book with me. I refused to look at anything else. I have realized that doing so just freaks me out. Well the practical part was RIDICULOUS. Half of the stuff was so hard to distinguish where it was coming from. Picture road kill on a platter and someone asking you to identify a random nerve…that’s what I just went through. Then we get to the virtual practical, which is xrays and pictures and that was relatively easy. My favorite question on the entire exam was a picture and they were pointing to the prostate. It was so basic and easy that I almost thought it was a joke!!! The written portion was alright. I don’t know what I got on the final yet. They refuse to post the answers until all of the skulls are returned (There’s something you don’t say everyday!). Once the exam was over, there was a memorial service in the lab for our cadavers. I thought that it was necessary for me to go pay my respects to good ole Eve. It was a very nice service. Short and sweet. We even got a little program where they listed the names of all of the cadavers. We don’t know Eve’s real name. They didn’t match up which table had which person. We did find out her age and cause of death. Eve turned out to be the oldest one of the group. She was 97!!! She passed away of atherosclerotic venous disease. I’m not quite sure what that is, so don’t ask!! I mean, I have some idea but I couldn’t tell you exactly. Looking back, I can’t believe I learned the entire human body in 4 months. That is insane! Most schools take two semesters, and I really wish we did as well. I won’t miss the stench of the lab, but it was a great class. Adam, Mikey and I went to grab dinner afterwards. We decided to try this little Chinese place called Choo Light. It was actually decent. I just don’t know what it is about restaurants here and peas. I mean, I had peas in my hot and sour soup…what is that about?? Please tell me that the Chinese restaurant next to Dunaway’s is still open because I really want some of that when I come home. It’s all I could think about when I was eating this. Alright, time to open up the Histology books...the fun never ends around here!

10 days to perfect my Caribbean accent so I can tell stories.

UPDATE: So I just checked my Anatomy grade...drum roll please.........
As of now, I have a B. The rumor is that we get 10 points back (at least) for the curve. If that rumor turns out to be true, then I've got the A. If not, then I'll get the B and go hunt down the people who are telling these lies. IT'S A CLOSE ONE! Say your prayers!
