DO WE HAVE MELISSA JONES!?

HOLA! I have returned from Isla de Margarita (Margarita Island) and it was an amazing trip! This could possibly be the longest journal entry I have ever written, but I will try to keep it short. Friday night we arrived at the airport. Of course the flight was delayed. We were supposed to leave at 9:30PM, but we didn't take off until nearly 11:00. Luckily it was a quick hour plane ride on Conviasa Air (or as Jean calls it Condoleezza Air). There was a huge bus waiting at the airport for us to take us to the Hilton. It was a 20 minute ride to the hotel, which was a lot further than I was expecting. We threw our things down in the hotel room and headed over to Senor Frogs. We only had two days so we had to make the most of our time. We danced til it closed down a little after 3, and then I headed to the Casino. I lost 15,000. The next morning we were surprisingly up by 9:30. The six girls had breakfast the next morning which was only 160,000. This is when the language barrier became difficult, but luckily Kristen is fluent in Spanish which helped out tremendously. Then it was time to go shopping. The mall was really nice and had everything I could have hoped for including McDonald's!!! Between all of us girls we spent a couple million. Lunch at McDonald's cost me 9,000. After a full day of shopping, we returned to the hotel to get ready for the night. We went to this delicious restaurant called Guayoyo. Here is where the story gets interesting. We ordered our dinner. Most of us got brocheta (kabobs). They were yummy! Our bill for ten people came out to a mere 520,000. We had the people at the restaurant call two cabs for us. We were on our way to this place called Camy Beach. They told us the cabs would be here in ten minutes. I went to use the bathroom, told Jenn where I was headed and left the group. I walked out of the bathroom and saw that no one was at our table. I figured they were waiting outside for the cab. I walked outside and there was no one there!!! The host must have seen my face because he said, "Tus amigos??" I replied "SI!" He then freaked out and put his hand on his head and said "OH NO!!" THEY LEFT ME.
~Meanwhile in cab #2 somewhere on Isla de Margarita~ Four people are in this 2nd cab making fun of the fact that 6 people squeezed themselves into the first cab. The names of these 4 people will remain anonymous. They made me promise I would give no names.
I waited at the front of the restaurant with the host and the security guard. Neither spoke very good English which made this even more fun. They called me a cab, and we became best friends. Here is a picture of me with Cristopher, the security guard. At the time this picture was taken, I was definitely still chuckling about the event. The emotions went back and forth between "This is gonna make a great story" and "I am in Venezuela, I don't speak much Spanish and THEY LEFT ME" The cab came. The driver didn't speak any English. I could understand some Spanish. He kept asking me questions. It was difficult. I was nervous in the cab by myself.
~Meanwhile at Camy Beach~
The two cabs got there at different times so the first cab didn't wait for the second. The first time they were together was for a nice group photo. Jenn asked "Where's Melissa?" (she was in cab #1) From what I've heard one of the boys in cab #2 flipped out and ran out of the club. He hopped in a cab to come get me. Of course we crossed paths. I made it to Camy Beach and it was a huge reunion! Everyone felt so terrible. I almost cried because I was so relieved to be reunited. We had a great time the rest of the night. They played the best music from local stuff to Elvis. It was the most fun.
The next morning we woke up early once again to hang out at the pool. We went out for a while, but then it started raining. Margarita Island has sun 300 days out of the year, and I'm there for one of the 65 where it rains...what are the chances? So what did we decide to do? Go shopping of course. It wasn't enough that we spent millions the day before. HAHA! I went back to get a pair of shoes that I had been debating. Of course they were gone. It was so sad. Our last chore before we left was to go back to McDonald's to bring cheeseburgers back for some of the boys. Jean decides she is going to order 13, not 12, but the unlucky 13. I go sit down and wait while she deals with ordering. Luckily we had the manager who spoke a little English helping us. I'm sitting down talking to some other boys on the trip when Jean yells at me, "Melissa, we're 50,000 short!" Apparently, they thought Jean said 30 cheeseburgers. Good thing we didn't end up with 30 because there was little room in our bags. I wish I had the picture of us with all the bags of McDonald's. It's on Jean's camera. If I get it, I will post it. After our adventures at McDonald's it was time to get our things and head to the airport. We were all exhausted! We boarded the plane, happy to be returning home and ready to get some sleep. Before take off, Jenn yells out "Do we have Melissa Jones?" Everyone started saying that. I answered the roll call and then it was safe to leave. It was a fantastic trip, and I'm so excited I went. I think I covered everything. Sorry it was so long. It was a very eventful trip.

PS All prices are in bolivars. $1 US = 2150 Bolivars!!! This translates into me losing a whopping $7 US at the casino...SO MUCH FUN!!!!

We are glad that you made another posting, but it scared us. We are very thankful that you made it back to Grenada OK, and did not wind up like the Alabama girl did in Aruba, who left a club, got into a cab, and was gone. Thank goodness your cab driver was OK and was not a head hunter or body hunter. And, we are proud of the young man who ran out of the club and hopped inTO a cab to go get you. He demonstrated good, mature thinking. Even though your paths crossed, he did the right thing. And, we were of the opinion that there would be about 50 of you going, but evidently there were only 10. We are glad you had a good time on this trip, but we hope you do not pull another one like this one. Our luck might run out. We love you.
