Truly blessed

It has been an interesting two days. The final went as expected...I got a B. BOO! Oh well. It is only a 1 credit class so I guess it's not the end of the world. The good news is I found out yesterday that I have been accepted into Iota Epsilon Alpha which is the honors society here! I am very excited about this and we have our first meeting this evening. I will let you know how it goes.
I just want to thank everyone for their concern for my family. I also really appreciated the comments that Grandma and PawPaw have been leaving me. Last night my brother was able to contact me, and then this morning my mom was able to get through. It was so great to hear their voices. They left Sunday night and went to my aunt's house in Baton Rouge. My dad stayed and held down the old homefront. I hope he is ok. I have been concerned but that is because they haven't said much about Slidell. The only thing they said yesterday was that there was a possibility of damage to 100% of buildings there. That was exactly what I wanted to hear. My friends back home have been keeping in touch with me and my friends here have been wonderful. Without them I don't think I would be doing as well as I am right now. So thank you everyone! My prayers are with all of my friends and family back home in Louisiana. I hope that everything is ok with you and you are all safe. You are constantly on my mind, and if there is anything I can do I will do it. I know I'm a million miles away, but seriously, if there is any way I can help I am here. This event has made me realize (even more so) that I want to move back to Slidell ASAP. I never want to be separated from my family like this again. I'm so helpless!! Also, thank goodness for the internet. It is a fabulous source of information on this storm. So once again, thank you for keeping me updated and my prayers are with y'all!
All my love,
Melissa

Hey Melissa. I know how you feel. It seems pointless to go to class when things are a mess back home. I've been in touch with Mom and Dad and they said everyone left Baton Rouge yesterday to try and get in touch with your Dad or get back in to the city. I haven't heard anything since. If you know anything, let me know and I will certainly help in any way I can.
