More communication with home!

Mrs. Judy Blalock called me from Atlanta this morning. That was my second phone call from home in two days! Then I get to school and see that MiMi has commented on here. It was great to hear from her as well. MiMi, I'm very glad that you are doing well and your house wasn't too badly damaged. I worried about it. Things here are slowly getting back to normal. I have been struggling on keeping my mind on school, but I've managed to get some work done today. I would like to have done more, but people keep e-mailing me and instant messaging me asking about home. I am so behind in my work. This next week I am just going to bury myself in it. Midterms are only 3 weeks away. You think that's a long time but it really isn't. I have got to start getting myself in gear. Tonight is the 80s party. I have a GREAT costume. Remember those lovely spandex pants everyone used to wear? Well somehow we found a pair. HAHA! If I get a good picture I will post it up here. Well let me go get some more work done. I love you all. I wish more than anything that I could come home for a short period of time, but it just doesn't seem possible. Talk to you soon.
~M
PS. Once again, thank you Grandma and PawPaw for the updates from home. They are greatly appreciated.

Have fun at your 80's party tonight. Wish I could be there! If you talk to anyone at home tell them we are thinking of them!

Melissa,
Yesterday (Saturday) MiMi and I went to Slidell to take water, ice, food to your mom & dad. Ann sent them a mini refrigerator so they would keep some refrigerated items without using so much of the generator's power. We had taken a million dirty towels back to Ann's earlier in the week and sent them back clean via Ken Kuhlman. Only your mother - no one else on earth - would have set up a "kitchen" under the carport with chairs, table, food, ice chests, water so they could "entertain" visitors. She is so remarkable in her resiliency and dealing with such a disaster. Her chin is up and she works day and night. We wanted to take her back with us yesterday to spend ONE night at Ann's in air condition, bubble bath, hot meal and SLEEP, but she didn't come...
Your MiMi had a VERY had day yesterday, seeing her daughter surrounded by such devastation, and then going to her house where that neighborhood is like a war zone. She is so fortunate to have had only water and Stewart and Ryan have already removed the wet carpet. What a job that was! Moving all of her furniture around to get the carpet up. My condo did not have any damage - unreal to see three huge trees, all around my house, uprooted and fallen AWAY from me. It could be SMASHED to the ground, but not one limb or damage.
Ok, enough of all this, you need to go study! LOL Love you, AJ
