Lovely little vacation

I have returned from Bequia! It is a BEAUTIFUL little island with the friendliest people. We took the morning ferry over there on Saturday. The ferry ride was only about an hour but it was great to be out on the water with the breeze. We caught a taxi to our villa. The taxis are pickup trucks and they put benches in the back with a canopy! It was really fun!! The island itself is so very green and lush. It was just gorgeous driving through it. We got to the villa and were just in awe at how spectacular it was!! We ran out to the beach to check that out since we were right on the water. It was some of the prettiest blue water I have ever seen. Then we ran into the house to settle in and get ready to go to the beach. Now, you know there is always something crazy that happens when I go on these trips and this time was no exception. As we were inside putting our things down, a body washed ashore right in front of our house. The owner asked the boys to help them since he knew that we were medical students. So the boys went out there to check his pulse and try to resuscitate him but the poor man had died. They covered him up with a sheet and the police had to come out. I was oblivious to all of this until I was told. Then I realized why there was that group of people standing around. Scary sight, I must say. We spent the day lounging on the beach with occassional breaks to try to find college football on television. There is no ESPN here, only ESPN Vivo which is the international channel and prefers airing some strange soccer match. Weird. The boys barbecued chicken for dinner and we ate on our porch. We tried to find a place to go out, but since it is the off season and the island is so very small almost everything was closed. The only event going on was a 5 on 5 Basketball tourney. It was entertaining, but after being in the hot sun all day I was exhausted. Today was much of the same as yesterday minus the dead body. We relaxed on the beach, some people snorkeled (I never got a chance, but maybe next time). It was just a very relaxing two days. Now that I am home of course I'm stressed that I haven't done any studying in the past two days school related, but I am glad that I went. Dan said he had a great 30th birthday so that's all that really matters. Hopefully I will get some pictures from people and put them up. I must be off to bed. I can hardly keep my eyes open any longer. Goodnight!
