Just as I suspected...
Yep, there was no air condition in the Anatomy lab this morning. The power outages yesterday did something to the AC unit, and it would not turn on. It was quite miserable. I was so hot and the formaldehyde stench was even worse. Plus, something about the heat makes that smell just stick to your clothes. YUCK. Besides the heat, lab was good this morning. We dissected Eve’s upper arm which was easy. Dr. Brahim was the professor assigned to our table and he is one of the toughest in the lab. He likes to joke around some too which makes it not so scary when he is asking you questions. He kept making fun of me since I’m from New Orleans. I did very well with his questions, and I was the only one at our table to get a couple of questions right! Phew! We had a full day of classes this afternoon which is quite different from yesterday when we only had one lecture and part of the other. Too bad the power couldn’t have gone out today. We had an Anatomy lecture, then Embryology and then two Biochemistry lectures. The Surge is tonight which is a party put on by the Surgery Club. I am going to go for a little while because this will be my last bit of free time until the Monday after next. We have our first quiz then which covers all four subjects as well as Clinical Skills. Well I am going to go jump in the ocean (possibly with these scrubs on) to remove the Gross Anatomy Perfume (also available in cologne for men). Seriously, one of the Biochem professors sat next to me in class today and I don't know how he stood it. What a brave soul, especially after the other Biochem prof complained and said we needed to change before we come to lecture. "The smell is ghastly!" Have a great weekend everyone! Amy, Shelley and Joanne – I wish I was in New York City with y’all! I expect lots of stories!

Great story: Jenn and Mike’s parents are in town this weekend (Jenn and Mike are brother and sister). Mike was the one that said y’all. They were riding over to campus today and Jenn was showing her parents where the Carib Breweries were located. The following was their conversation.
Jenn’s dad: You seem to have picked up on a dialect.
Jenn: Like what? A local Caribbean accent?
Jenn’s dad: No, like an educated Southerner.
Jenn: Melissa is going to love that.
Two comments: 1) I’m glad that I have an educated Southern accent.
2) I’m really happy that my accent is rubbing off on them, and it’s not the other way around. At least I hope I’m not picking up on theirs!
